This journal is rarely updated, but I still use it to read my friends list (every day) and post comments (occasionally). If you'd like to get my updates, be sure to add [info]mikes2 (which does get updated) AND [info]mikes to your friends list. I know it's annoying, but think of it as getting 2 for the price of 1. Besides, aren't I worth it?

Everyone should add [info]mikes2 to their friends list. It's super-fun.

Juicy friends only list stuff will still be posted here, and this is where I read your journals from, so please don't un-friend me.

And yes, I still read everyone. Every day.

Joy of joys, living in Seattle.

December 8, 2002: Section 212, Row 7
December 9, 2002: Section 105, Row 10

Mental note: getinng tickets online is better than standing in line.

Take that stupid Braves! I think Atlanta's only choice now is to dismantle Florida Marlins style, sending their top, non-racist talent to the Mets. With the Braves, A's and Yankees all out, I now predict a World Series victory for the St Louis Cardinals. Sorry Barry.
In other news, I wasted my whole night playing Halo on XBox Connect. That game is worse than crack. So much for coming home early to get stuff done.

New Pulp Fiction DVD arrived today. That's my third copy, for those keeping score at home (though one was a gift to replace the first one, which a dorm lounge VCR chewed up).

Also arriving was my replacement "Terp For Life" keychain. The alumni association probably thinks I'm a freak... but whatever, I paid my renewal fees.

Mets lost again.

Brief news before I go to bed...

The cop who is handling my robbery case in Oregon apparently "noticed my bag in a bush while he was breaking up a fight." Hmm. Anyway, some stuff was in it, including "electronics." I'm assuming he means my camera and/or cell phone charger, as I can't imagine someone not taking the actual camera or phone. We shall see. If my glasses are in there, I'll be thrilled.

Good news. My rent was lowered $75, and I just signed a 1 year extension on my lease. This gives me another year in downtown Seattle before I (probably) move to the far less exciting East Side.

The Mets lost their 10th straight.

What the hell is the point of insurance if they refuse to replace any of your stuff?

Fuckin asses.
They only like it when you pay your bills, not when you ask for something in return.

Went to Portland for the weekend. That was nice.
Then had all my stuff stolen out of Bonnie's car, via a smashed window.
That was not nice.
This hasn't been a good week.

What's worse then needing your wisdom teeth out, you ask?
Having to pay $1300 to have your wisdom teeth out.
They're not even hurting.
But my wallet will be.
Grr.

As of 8am tomorrow morning, I'm off to Vegas. I'll be back late Tuesday night, and at work on Wednesday.
I am alive, I am well, and I am 23.
Also, I ordered a new computer. Apparently the Dell dude is assmebling it personally in between bong hits, because it keeps getting delayed. No matter.

After a brief hiatus from coolness, Buy.com is great again. Just ordered 2 bestselling books (50% off) for $17, with free shipping. Cool.

Why do I write the most random stuff in here?

I became a shareholder today. Yay.

3 weeks until Vegas.

Should be getting Neil Finn tickets tomorrow. Any other Seattle people should go too.

Part of the reason I haven't made a signifcant post in so long is that I have so much to write about. So tonight I've decided I just can't write about it all. Here is the Cliff's Notes version of the last few weeks, and from now on, I'll write about the present rather than all of this:
Boat cruise during work, 5 people come to visit, Mariners, Vancouver, all the sites, getting lonely, buying 2 fish, Neo must be the One because Trinity died after 1 day, studying for the MCP exam, more studying, more studying, passing the exam, getting a new manager, limo scavenger hunt, writing my annual review (writing critically about yourself over 20 pages is NOT a fun thing to do), travelling to Orcas Island with The Bon, waiting for the ferry for 3 hours, getting a sunburn, and now, back into the grind. Wanna know more, or see more pictures? You'll have to IM me :)

Hi.
Remember me? DIdn't think so.
Things have been insanely busy. The journal just seems to fall further and further behind.
"THE DAY" is rapidly appraching though, and things should calm down then.
Maybe I'll be able to get creative again. Or maybe I'll just post more boring stuff.
Either way, it'll be better than this week.

It's a post about nothing [07 May 2002|12:09am]
All right... eventful weekend, so bare with me as I hash it all out...

The weekend started out well, with an "all hands" meeting for SQL Server taking up most of Friday afternoon. I think a lot of important business stuff was discussed, but the main points I got out of it were: 1. They're taking us to go see Star Wars on the Friday morning after it comes out, and 2. They're taking us to a Mariners game in September. Excellent. As is standard with most large meetings, it wrapped up with an open bar and pretty decent buffet. Side Note: Why did the Holiday party have a 2 drink limit when the meeting was all you can drink?
Anyway, after a Heineken and a couple of crab cakes, I went back to my office to finish some stuff up. I then headed to Seattle Center for the "members only" opening of the (Un)Common Objects exhibit at EMP. Again, free food and beer were quite plentiful, and the party was pretty wild. The exhibit was also quite cool. It featured rock artifacts like: Madonna's "cone" outfit from the Blonde Ambition tour, Buddy Holly's glasses (as found in the plane wreck), and Britney's Slave Girl costume from the MTV awards. Bonnie said "she has big hips". Mike said "no comment".
As Seattle's futuristic monorail was broken down, we were forced to walk there and back. This however, finally gave me the opportunity to snap this picture in front of Cinermama:

They've been there since Jan 1. I hope the movie is worth it.

Saturday was productive, as I managed to do some clothes shopping, get a haircut at my favorite barber shop/tattoo parlor and of course, catch Spider-Man. I won't bother to pretend like you haven't seen it, so I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.

Then, because Cinco de Mayo was approaching, and it is a holiday of great importante to me, I met up with some friends and went out on a midnight "Salsa Cruise". Though they offered basic lessons, I relearned a lesson that I learned in high school, and that is that salsa dancing aint easy. Bonnie and I did our best to bounce back and forth while other couples were doing the Tango de Muerte in circles around us. Meanwhile, Vlada waited patiently as Sam battled sea-sickness, and some other girl who came with us contracted a case of kleptomania. While I wouldn't call the night a complete success, it was quite enjoyable, and I'm very glad we got to go.

AND finally, on Sunday, Jon and Brooke held a barbecue to finally show off their new house. It was a very nice place- a small 3 bedroom "rambler" (ranch for you east coasters), with a nice sized yard, a fireplace, and lots of windows. It actually made me quite jealous... I'm completely unsure about what to do about housing next year... rent again, or buy? I'm going to an info-session next week for the condos opening up across the street from my current building, so maybe I'll have a better idea after that. Anyway, we had some quality burned hot dogs (just like I like em) and juicy hamburgers, and I lost my short lived title of Monopoly king to Brooke.

And, that pretty much sums it up. Today seriously sucked, but I guess that was to be expected after such a weekend. Somebody at work genuinely pissed me off. I'm usually just annoyed by people's work ethics or lack of social skills, but this guy seriously made me furious and 15 hours later, I'm still upset. Unfortunately, I have to work with him for the forseeable future, so I can't elevate this into something more. However, I don't think he realizes how much he's been benefitting from some of the work I've been doing for him... so I'm cutting that off as of now. Grrr... when can I start my own company already?
